Assignment Takeaway 5
For this assignment I decided to choose the country Russia and chapter 6 Personality. The article I chose was titled “Child Personality in Slovenia and Russia: Structure and Mean Level of Traits in Parent and Self-Ratings” . Although it talked about the difference between Russia and Slovenia using the Five Factor Model I used the data that they gathered from Russia’s results and compared it to the United States. The article studied the development of child personality in both of these countries. In the end I cam to the conclusion that although these countries are not the same culturally the effects and the results of their Five Factor Model show that they are quite similar. Although there were a few differences in the scores where one scored higher than the other, they were still close in range.
I chose this image because it is the five factor model that was used to analyze the results.
Assignment Takeaway 4
For this assignment there was nothing really shocking to me or anything new that I discovered. As I was looking for pictures to use for this assignments the pictures that were presented were just as I expected, however I expected to see a lot more overly sexual pictures of American women than I did. I was glad that it was majority of those type of pictures but instead it was body positive pictures. Which to me in a way is a direct result of the over sexualization of American women. This goes into how I talked about American women being preyed on instead of celebrated. When I looked up pictures for American men majority of them were men in suits, showcasing successful men. This is one reason I want to ensure I get my education so that I can break the stereotypical idea that women can’t be successful.
I chose this picture because it is one of the ones I found for my assignment.
Assignment Takeaway 3
For this assignment I chose to read Alissa Roach’s blog. Originally I chose her blog because I thought I would be able to connect more with her as a African American Women, but as I was reading her blog I learned that she was not originally from the U.S. However I became more fascinated with her blog as it was amazing to hear about her experiences as an immigrant. Her experience as an immigrant allowed her to relate more to the people that she met hat were also immigrants and also allowed her to be able to learn not only about them but also herself. This blog was very touching to me because it was amazing to read about her experience and to see how her thoughts changed over them time of her experience.
I chose this picture because it shows people connecting with one another.
Assignment Takeaway 2
While doing this assignment it was pretty interesting to me while reading about how important action/work value is to the American culture. It gave me a better insight on not only my values on work/action but also those around me. It made me notice just how work driven a lot of people that I know are and how many people in my personal lives live by those values and continues to instill them in their youth and others that are impressionable to having the American value of always having to be in action or working.
