My name is Ashley Adams and I\u2019m a senior at Old Dominion University. I&#8217;m majoring in Public Health with a deep interest in how social determinants and health disparities shape outcomes in rural and low-income communities. Growing up and observing these inequities firsthand fueled my passion for advocating for underserved populations and seeking ways to bridge the gaps in access, education, and care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As an aspiring Physician Assistant, I\u2019m committed to integrating public health principles into clinical practice \u2014 ensuring that the care I provide goes beyond treating immediate symptoms to addressing the broader social and environmental factors affecting my patients\u2019 well-being. I believe healthcare should be proactive, community-focused, and equitable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m currently an intern at a non-profit organization called Fit4Kids. Fit4Kids is located in Richmond, VA and their mission is improve children&#8217;s health and wellness through physical activity and healthy eating. I hope this internship will expand my education and gain more experiences in planning community health programs, public health initiatives, and population health management.
