What inspired you to go into the medical field?

He always liked science and liked helping people. 

What was the path you took to get to your current job? 

He changed majors from chemistry to philosophy. At the time he had young kids so he couldn’t go back to school until they were older. He attended night school while working full time. Took the MCAT. He applied for medical school, got waitlisted, then he was finally accepted into EVMS. He had a connection with a friend to get this job at ODU.  

What are your basic roles and responsibilities? 

To see patients, with anything they need, typically only sees injuries and illnesses that are usual for college students. 

What is your favorite part of your job? 

Students, getting to talk to them. Inspire. 

What is the most surprising aspect of your career? 

People value what hes does with them and for them. Gratification. 

What is the most challenging aspect of your career? 

Never know enough. Always more to learn. “Human body is so complex, and it’s humbling.” 

Advice for someone who wants to enter the medical field? 

Don’t give up on your dream, even if there are detours.

Always move toward your goal. 

Don’t put it off, you’ll regret it.
