I have chosen to pursue a major in Public Heath. I plan on using the knowledge I will gain from this major as a platform to help me enter Medical School, as well as pursue a career as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist. Going into this field will allow me to educate women in Reproductive Health, which has been a goal of mine for quite some time.
Parallel Major
I decided to choose Biology as my parallel major. I chose this because with the career I want it will be beneficial if my current major doesn’t work out. An interesting fact about the Biology major is that there are opportunities to further the degree in areas of teaching and a pre-med track. One career you can have with the biology major is a Microbiologist. In this career you can study human diseases and perform experiments and tests to identify harmful bacteria. As a Microbiologist you can work in research labs or in medicine manufacturers. You only need a bachelor’s degree in Biology. The average salary is about $70,000 dollars a year.
You can work in research laboratories. The academic adviser for the biology major, for my last name is Cynthia Meca. The differences in classes are taking more science classes based around Biology, not so much Chemistry and less social classes like in Public Health.
