Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?

I am interested in cybersecurity because I was exposed in small ways to it during my time in the Navy, and it was/is my favorite aspect of the job, When I say “in small ways” I really do mean that, I’ve only had the chance to do and learn the very basics of cybersecurity, but I have found it to be quite fascinating and I want to learn more. I can’t quite be sure just yet, but I can imagine that by the time I learn the more advanced things relating to cyber security I will be quite good at it and will have a lot of fun. 

Select four other majors offered by ODU and explain how those majors relate to cybersecurity.

Immediately the first other major that I go to here is criminal justice, the reason for this being that cybersecurity and criminal justice both have the obvious aspect of crime prevention at the forefront of them. A second major that has a commonality with cybersecurity would be computer science, while criminal justice compares in the “crime” aspect, computer science compares in the “technology” aspect, in that both CS and CYSE deal heavily in technology and technological innovation. The Third major that connects with Cybersecurity is Finance, this one might feel like a reach but in reality, most cybersecurity majors will go on to work directly in the business or finance sectors, therefore that major has much less crossover with ours, but it directly relies on ours for its own existence. Lastly Accounting, which connects with cybersecurity for the exact same reason that Finance does, in that it relies on cybersecurity for its own existence, that same logic follows for just about every major that ODU offers and just about every industry in the world, In this age of expanding technology Cybersecurity is the backbone of every industry protecting cyber systems and allowing everyone else to do their jobs unimpeded by cyber threats.
