Module #1

How does your major relate to cybersecurity technology?

My current major is cyber security which everything to do with cyber security technology. Cyber security is the practice of defending computers, servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks, and data from malicious attacks. From the course I expect to learn about different infrastructures and systems. Cyber security involves protecting networks and preventing attacks as well as protocol for what to do if an attack is successful. It involves preventing break ins as well as making sure the integrity of data is safe as well as unauthorized access. An example is a firewall which denies access to unauthorized users trying to get into a network. Cyber security is essential for the future for businesses and big companies. I want to be a cyber security analyst or a Penetration tester. A penetration tester is hired by a company and is free to attack and try to breach the network to benefit the company to diminish any threats within the network and take care of any overlooked access points. We need penetration testers because new threats are discovered everyday and new ways of breaching networks are improved everyday because of new technologies that will not stop coming as long as we are evolving by time. A cyber security analyst can be the head of a team that overlooks everything in a network and maintains the network so that everything is running smoothly without any attacks. This can involve the software and hardware that is directly related to it. Technologies that are used to protect networks and will continue to improve and need new people to learn new ways of protecting data throughout the years to come.
