Cyber security engineers’ primary mission is to protect the computer systems and networks of an organization from threats and attacks. A security engineer analyzes computer networks, ensures they’re running smoothly and securely and tries to foresee possible security issues that might occur in the future. Security engineering focuses on designing computer systems equipped to deal with disruptions like natural disasters and/or malicious cyber attacks as well as breaches. They make sure the correct security controls are placed to protect the organizations data or information. They plan, implement, manage, monitor and update old equipment so that security is as good as can be. They also perform penetration tests to see what vulnerabilities the system and network may have. Security engineers are responsible for testing and screening security software and for monitoring networks and systems for security breaches or intrusions. They can often resolve possible causes of security threats early on by looking at things from a security perspective and recommending enhancements to management. They act as the company’s first line of defense against unauthorized access from outside sources and potential security threats. They create new ways to solve existing production security issues. They install and use software, such as firewalls and data encryption programs. They install software that helps notify the company if any intrusions have occurred while handle and track incidents that occur over time. They test multiple security solutions that they have come up with to improve the analysis and finally watch for irregular network behavior within the system. With cyber engineers our systems are improved daily because of new strategies that they come up with along with new technologies. This is good because at the same occurring time new methods of malicious hacking and new ways to intrude a network and being discovered just as fast and to prevent that they must be one step ahead of everyone else.
