My memoir is about me attending a new school, where no one knows me. I describe the first day of school and the challenges I went through.  Just because of my name I was embarrassed and scared to even speak up. I got through the day by having to constantly correct my new teachers on how to pronounce my first name , let alone my last. Instead of coming up with a nickname, one of my teachers opened my eyes to being proud of my name.

The rhetorical analysis is on the misconception about the 13th amendment. Yes, slavery is abolished, but it is not destroyed completely. The documentary ,13th, showed that slavery was not abolished but made into mass incarceration. There is increase an in people being convicted wrongfully, and being released years later, because of this they can not better their lives. They can not get a good job or anything after being released from a crime they were wrongfully convicted of.  Therefore proving that the justice system is flawed.
