Writing Reflection Two

My experience in the UNIV 150 throughout the past six weeks have taught me many things and a clear understanding about writing essays. During the past weeks, I’ve been focusing on my grammatical concerns. On my midterm essay, I realized I had a few mistakes such as a shift in time, sentence fragments and punctuation. Overall, my essay was straight to the point and flowed very nicely. On the contrary, essay number two had less grammatical mistakes than my midterm. Everything was well organized and developed. The essay had to support supports that are sequenced logically and also have a smooth transit between the ideas. However, I misread the prompt and didn’t give my personal response in the terms of note-taking. I wrote the essay in 3rd person instead of 1st person where I could explain my personal experience with note taking. As a result of both essays, they were well-written essays with a few adjustments that are needed.

My plan to achieve my next goal is to make sure I write what the prompt is asking me and I have less grammatical mistakes. Before I start writing out my essays, I will make sure I have a complete understanding of what the prompt is asking me and what person to write the essay in. Once I am finished with the essay I will go back and look for my grammatical errors. While doing so, I will have my checklist by my paper so I can look over what kind of mistakes I made. This method will help me to become a better writer along the way.

During my final essay, I will be repeating my steps with my last essays. First, get an understanding of the prompt. Then, make an outline so everything can be organized and run smoothly. Lastly, go over the paper and check for grammatical mistakes while looking over the checklist.
