Through taking this class I now understand some things that I couldn’t before now. I am glad that I ended up in your classroom, I don’t know what I would do if I was in a different classroom with a different way to learn because you made it easier to understand.

Some of the knowledge I achieved in class was useful for me outside of class. One time, I took a look at my cousin’s paper for his college class and I noticed some errors that I wouldn’t have been able to pick up on if I hadn’t taken this class. I told him the errors he had such as comma errors and punctuation errors that could be easily fixed.

In my public speaking class, we were discussing rhetorical speeches and how to critic them. I used that information gained in that class to help form my rhetorical analysis paper for my English class. Since I had already been over the topic of rhetorical analysis and we were going to discuss somethings in class that would help us write the paper, I feel as though that paper was probably one of my prepared papers I’ve done this far.

During the time taking this course, I realized that a lot of the material covered in it was also being covered in my public speaking class. There was a point when we were covering persuasion in English and within a few weeks my public speaking class was preparing for a persuasive speech. I used the knowledge from English class to help me in my persuasive speech. I finished my speech with a raw score of 88 and I probably would’ve scored lower if I hadn’t already been over that specifically.

Everything I’ve done this semester has been leading up to my Eportfolio. My experiences going into this portfolio will not be forgotten anytime soon. I will use this information acquired to assist me in later courses and later in life. This portfolio is a collection of all my assignments over the semester. I don’t have to just use it this one time. I could something like this later on to help keep my work organized and all in one space. I could also use to show to someone or somewhere I am trying to apply to later in my life. I can give them a link to a portfolio that has all the work I have accomplished that might catch their interest instead of bringing over a bunch of papers that can be disorganized and messy.

Before I started this semester, I thought English was going to be my hardest course to pass. I have always had a vendetta against English classes because I’ve always barely slipped by with a “B” while my other classes have been higher than my English classes every time. This time I assumed it was going to be the same way as it was it was in the past. It was that assumption that I realized that this course was different than the ones in the past. So this time I tried to complete every paper that came my way without slacking. Knowing that it was that assumption that pulled me back from doing the absolute best I could, I will try to stop assuming negatives about a particular course based on what I, or someone I know, may have experienced.

I want to continue to push forward with my work while doing it correctly. All the knowledge and skills I have acquired throughout this semester will help me in later semesters and continue with me throughout my life. I will cease making negative assumptions about a particular course regardless of what others think unless it is for the better.

Sincerely, Dennis Adkins

061 Streetville Road Orange County, FL 34461 December 8, 2018 Professor Carrie Emerson-Coyle 579 Incredible Syree Dangerzone, OS 25846 Dear Mrs. Emerson, During my time here in this class, there are many things I couldn’t and didn’t understand about basic English such as, where to place commas.
