Final Reflection

Your First Semester

  • Tell us how you have grown from the beginning of the semester to now.

I would say I’m more chilled than when I first started school. I adjusted to my environment and going to school.

  • What were your expectations for this year? Did this semester’s experiences meet your expectations? Explain.

I expected to have all my credits by the end of this semester. This semester’s experiences did meet my expectations. I managed to have good grades despite what I went through this semester.

  • What is something you wish you had known 14 weeks ago?

What I wish I knew 14 weeks ago was don’t just make your whole focus on school. Take a break here and don’t stress yourself out when you don’t need to.

Study Habits

  • How much time do you spend studying for each class now vs. at the beginning of the semester?

I study at least 6-8 hours a week, but back at the beginning of the semester, I was studying at least 15 hours a week.

  • How have your study habits changed?

I found new and better ways to make me study and retain the information quicker than to go based directly on the notes.

  • Tell us about a resource that you have used/learned about this semester that will assist you next semester.

The resources are to make flashcards and quizlet flashcards and write down my notes in words or a form that I can understand better than what the teacher is giving me.

  • What study habits/techniques will you use going into next semester?
  • Flashcards
  • Notes in my own words
  • Study groups
  • etc.

Health Professions Learning Community

  • This semester you were enrolled in at least SOC 201S, and HLTH 101. Many of you were also enrolled in CHEM 105N and CHEM 106N, and some of you were enrolled in HIST 104H with Professor White.
    • On the surface these classes do not appear to be connected; however this semester each professor was intentional about drawing connections between the content, and subjects discussed. Discuss how these courses are tied together.

Parallel Plan

  1. This semester we had presentations from different majors in the College of Health Sciences as well as from different majors on campus. This was to give you an idea for possible parallel majors to your current intended major.
  • Which two other majors would you be most interested in? Why?

Nuclear Science Technology and Nursing. Because I feel like it has more hands-on things and I’m working with the body more than just a mouth.

  • What benefit is there to having a parallel plan (or two) in place?

Just to have a backup if nothing goes to plan. To also have something different if you didn’t like what you went with at first.

  • How could one or both of these two majors benefit your current intended major?

To learn more about the body and language and understand different points.
