Making the Connection: Timothy Coogan

on

Timothy Coogan will be my sport professional contact for this semester. Tim Coogan is the head football coach for Falls Church high school located in Fairfax County, Virginia. He played high school football at Paul VI in Fairfax, Virginia and in college as well at George Mason University. He also works as a health and PE teacher, strength/conditioning coach, and offensive coordinator for the Falls Church Jaguars. According to MaxPreps, Coach Coogan led the Falls Church Jaguars to a 7-4 record for the 2025-26 season and are currently ranked #223 in the state of Virginia.

As an alumni and former football player for Falls Church high school, choosing to contact Coach Coogan for this assignment was a no-brainer. It has been many years since I saw Coach Coogan in person but his coaching style taught me a lot about discipline and has made a positive impact on my mindset as a young adult. Making the connection was easy; I first searched for Coach Coogan on Google and found his faculty email address on the staff directory for Fairfax County Public Schools. I sent the initial message on the website and asked for him to contact me at my ODU student email, which he promptly did. He agreed to be my professional pen pal and that I should let him know when the strict deadlines are for the assignments. He also included his personal line in the email just in case I needed it. Being in contact with Coach Coogan and learning from him is important for me moving forward if I want to gain some coaching experience myself.
