Sports Media Persona
I created this account to express my love for the sports city of Philadelphia. Raised in a household and community of Philly fans, I figured I would keep viewers up to date with everything 76ers, Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers related.
With each of the big 4 seemingly in the midst of prominent runs, it’s an exciting time to appreciate everything Philly has to offer.
I only recently started paying close attention to hockey, and even with my expertise still growing, I’m well aware that this ongoing 2023-2024 season is one to witness for the Philadelphia Flyers. With wins over the Stars, Jets, Panthers, Canucks, and Golden Knights, it’s safe to say that the orange and black can compete with any team in the league in any arena. We’ve kept a calm 3rd place in the Metropolitan division and slide up and down the conference standings but this is far from the team that missed the playoffs last year.
I made this post a couple of weeks before Spring Training started because for the entirety of the offseason, there were a number of questions surrounding the Philadelphia Phillies after a NLCS loss to the Diamondbacks. And after all this time, we say farewell and good luck to Philly legend Rhys Hoskins and welcome hitter Whit Merrifield. I’ve had nothing but absolute pleasure watching this team become a contender as all of these players feel like they were meant to play in the city of Philadelphia. Conference matchups with the Braves, Marlins, Brewers, Diamondbacks, Padres, and the capped out Dodgers will lead to a dreamlike season no doubt. There is no stadium quite like Citizens Bank Park after a walk-off Schwarber-bomb.
I was in the 7th grade as we watched Nick Foles win his Super Bowl MVP while my friend, a Patriot’s fan, fell silent for the rest of the night. The entire city of Philadelphia has been chasing that high as the Eagles celebrated their 1st Super Bowl win.
We all remember Jason Kelce in his bright mummer’s costume giving a hall of fame worthy speech only fit for a hall of fame center. Losing Super Bowl 57 to the Chiefs in controversial fashion fueled this team with a vengeance for the 2022 season and everyone came back since the plan was to make a revenge tour back to the Super Bowl.
10-1 to start the season and 1-6 to end. It was evident that with a defense unable to guard wideouts and let every team go down the field nonstop, you need an offense to keep up the scoring output and the Eagles just could not get the job done. Now, we have 16 players sitting in free agency and most of them belong to the starting lineups. Come September, we will either be in the midst of another playoff run or a complete rebuild. A much needed change in the coaching staff will help a lot but I still have one question…Who the hell hired Matt Patricia?
We are on year 11 of “The Process” with the only thing to show for it being a Joel Embiid MVP.
My love for the game of basketball is immense so you can only imagine how exciting and downright devastating it’s been to watch the process unfold. To watch Tyrese Maxey come out of highschool, get drafted out of Kentucky, and now become an All-Star in a Sixers jersey creating his own shots, pacing the offense, and sometimes winning games by himself leaves me extremely excited about his and the team’s future.
It will be the production of our roleplayers that makes or breaks us come playoffs. The trade deadline was a blessing with Cam Payne coming in to be another bucket getter, signing Kyle Lowry to take some weight off of Maxey’s shoulders, promoting an efficient Ricky Council IV, and not to mention players like Kelly Oubre Jr, Paul Reed, and Mo Bamba holding their weight. I think this team should be placed among the best in the East but I still cannot say that I trust Nic Batum or Tobias Harris to start/close games respectively.
With the 9th most difficult remaining strength of schedule, getting Embiid and Melton back on the floor will be detrimental to necessary playoff seeding come April.
The rants are over but there will be more and more posts in the future as the Eagles make their offseason decisions, both the Sixers and Flyers make their way to playoff contention, and the Phillies begin a new season.
