Having read “Social Cybersecurity: An Emerging National Security Requirement,” I now have a clearer understanding of how warfare transitions from the conventional battlefield into the cyber and social media realms. The article describes how information warfare is being used by rival nations like Russia to influence public opinion, cause societal unrest, and erode trust in national institutions. What strikes me most is the concept of “social cybersecurity,” which demands not only data security, but security of the minds and actions of human beings as well. It is clear that military and national security operations in the future will have to prioritize the development of resilience to psychological and narrative manipulation.
