The health professional I interviewed was Rima Johnson. She is a physical therapist and works at Select Physical Therapy in Woodbridge, VA. She graduated from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a Bachelor of Science in physical therapy degree. She also has a COMT (Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy). Her influence to become a physical therapist is because she used to babysit a little boy that could not walk or talk, and he had a physical therapist to help him. The little boy’s physical therapist taught her some of the boy’s exercises to help the him and she also became a physical aid in high school. After college, she went through an internship rotation and got hired from internship and been working with the same company ever since. A basic role she has is patient care, which is caring for her patients and documenting what she does with her patients. Another role she has is that she must look out for the safety of everyone. The most rewarding aspect of her job is being able to help people with their injured bones. The most surprising aspect of her job is how many different types of people she gets to meet and gets to know every day. The most challenging aspect of her job is the stress that comes from trying to plan all of her patients different exercises. The advice she gave me to follow to become a physical therapist is to work hard, study, and try to make connections early.
Mrs. Rima, I am writing this thank you letter thank you for taking the time from your busy day to allow me to interview you for my class. I enjoyed our conversation, and I cannot wait till I get back to Woodbridge so we can talk face to face.
