Ethical Considerations of CRISPR Gene Editing

ALEXANDRA ORELLANA

In this reading it speaks about editing genes in a human embryos, there is a positive where it could cancel out the bad genes example to avoid deafness but have a negative outcome by having unwanted changes. Even though its not ready for clinical application, there are discussions for the long term affects if the plan of editing genes moves forward, for those who ever go through this process would have to be studied to understand in what way they are mentally and physically affected with edited genomes. The possible ethical considerations may be 1) to test it out or be used on someone there should be consent, 2) people who do it should be specialized, 3) make sure the person ever receiving this use in good condition and there is a health background check, 4) most importantly making sure the technology is well enough to be used.
