Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?
I’m interested in the cybersecurity field because it’s a job that grows more important by the day due to the fast rate at which technology evolves. Ever since I was a child, I would watch movies and play video games that depicted random hacking and cybercrimes, so the idea of learning and using technology was something that always interested me. As I grew up, I realized cybersecurity isn’t like Hollywood movies or video games, but cybercrimes can happen to anybody. A key moment that I will always remember from my life is the time when I was playing video games, and my online account got hacked. I had a lot of time and money spent on that account, so it made me want to learn how I can avoid these types of altercations from happening again in the future. That event is what jumpstarted me into learning more about technology and the security behind it.
Over the years, I became so used to modern electronics and how they’re implemented through our day-to-day life, that the idea of security behind all the random programs we use every day seems interesting to me. I’d like to learn as much as I possibly can in this class and hopefully gain greater insight into what life is like on the job when working in cyber security. I transferred from Nova and already took a few classes to help me get used to the idea of networking, technology, and the other aspects of modern-day electronics. Though I have some experience with the computer science field, I still have a lot to learn, but I’m slowly getting more comfortable with the various features and responsibilities that come with this trade. I’m looking forward to this class and all the new things I will learn by the end of the semester.
