St. Thomas is very close to Puerto Rico, so I had prior exposure to the Spanish language and have a few fluent Spanish speakers in my family. I was stationed in California and continued to live in southern California afterwards where the use of Spanish was very commonplace in my community. I’m hoping to improve on my previous experiences by learning the fundamentals necessary to effectively communicate Spanish with others.
