Journal #5: Review the articles linked with each individual motive.  Rank the motives from 1 to 7 as the motives that you think make the most sense (being 1) to the least sense (being 7).  Explain why you rank each motive the way you rank it.

7)Entertainment seems very malicious, yes it might be publicly available data but why go selling innocent peoples information when they haven’t done anything to make you want to sell there information.

3) Political, this theory seems very bad as the hacktivists can easily manipulate ones words and gestures using Artificial intelligence. This could totally mess up a ongoing campaign and potentially lead to extortion in some cases.

5) Revenge is something that is very personal as the perpetrator is seeking some type of validation because something happened that he/she didn’t like. This theory could scar the victim for life in professional and personal life. Revenge is not something that should be taken lightly as if could lead to things much worse.

6) Boredom I feel as if boredom is not made to be intentional, but it can lead down a rabbit hole if taken too far. As the article stated during COVID-19 this was a recurring thing because the kids were at home while the parents were at work, and it made room for snooping online and getting into things they shouldn’t have.

4) Recognition is one that I didn’t quite grasp the concept of, from what I read I believe it is basically trying to feel accomplished and valued.

1) For money, is basically in the name money is the root of all evil so most people will do what it takes to earn a wage even if that means something illegal. Most cybercriminals never get caught with hat they live a lavish life by doing evil things which is just wrong all around, because there are so many legal jobs.

2)Multiple reasons , relates to most of the motives I feel as if you never know someones true motive but cybercriminals get to hide behind a screen so they can have pent up aggression or just like to see how far they can get away with things.
