Cyber technology has been and is still on the rise. As it rises so do the amount of risk, styles of hacking, and potential problems making it impossible to get ahead of. People and companies should not feel safe unless they have a secure and well-defined cyber infrastructure. A Cyber infrastructure has an abundance of responsibility in keeping cyber policies and security up to date. The Cyber infrastructure consists of software and hardware, data, and people that keep a network safe and secure. It is critical to keep the infrastructure up-to-date and protected to prevent possible modification of data, destruction of data, and identity theft. To keep the cyber infrastructure safe a cyber team will need to establish a policy with guidelines that should always be followed to keep the employees and the customers safe. The policy at a minimum should have information and guidelines to protect employees from phishing emails, guidelines that inform the users of how to send secure messages, as well as the risk of leaving a computer unlocked. All employees should have a complete list of what they should and should not do so there is no room for confusion. Immediately after, the consequences for committing a security violation should also be listed. In addition, there should also be a procedure indicating which files should be backed up in the event of a natural disaster, or if a virus somehow got through the network. There should also be a list to identify the roles and responsibilities of employees. This list could be used to provide and deny access to various workers. Anytime new vulnerabilities are noticed or there has been a security breach in the company or another company, this should be seen as an opportunity to improve policies and to increase the levels of security to mitigate any further risk.
