CIA TRIAD Write Up

Write-Up: The CIA Triad
The CIA triad is a representation of guidelines for informational security. The CIA is based on three terms: Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability. Confidentiality is about privacy and limits information from unauthorized access. Integrity is the pledge of providing accurate and credible data consistently. Availability is a vow to be reliable by authorized personnel, when it comes to availability it is important for hardware to be maintained properly and ready for access. Authentication is the verification of a person usually by username name and password, sometimes a code for an extra layer of security. Authorization is the process of verifying access to data and is usually controlled and monitored by the organization. An example of authentication and authorization is logging in to ODU EDU with your MIDAS ID and password. You verify yourself with your ID and password and the organization grants you a role-based access as a student and you are allowed to view your own student data.
