              Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs 

Level 1: Psychological which are basic and essential needs such as; food, water, warmth, and rest which are necessary for human survival. Technology has drastically improved our basic needs with water purification systems, food production and providing superior healthcare systems. 

Level 2: Safety needs include security in every aspect of life such as personal security, financial security and understanding safety protocols. Technology helps us feel much safer with gadgets such as surveillance cameras, home security systems etc. Most importantly we have security measures to protect our online and personal data with encrypted data. 

Level 3: Love and Belongingness include feelings of love and affection from friends, families, romantic relationships etc. Technology has given us messaging platforms to stay in touch with our loved ones and dating apps to meet partners. 

Level 4: Esteem Needs prevails the need for respect, feeling of accomplishment, and the desire of our own reputation. Technology has given us online platforms where we can share our achievements and create our own reputations. I think the technological impact at this level has been the biggest overkill because social platforms are now just used for bragging and putting down other people. 

Level 5: Self Actualization is the moment where we realize our potential, purpose in life, learn about ourselves and personal growth and goals. Technology has provided us with a lot of educational and skill development platforms to help us pursue our hobbies, expand our brain, grow as humans and achieve personal goals.
