The first major provided by ODU to students that relates to cybersecurity is criminology. Criminology is the study of criminal behavior. What majors in that industry are required to learn is how to do things like preventing, correcting, and finding out why crimes happened. This relates to cybersecurity as cyber crime is another form of crime that they are more recently required to learn. As technology advances there is more of a need for preemptive actions to better protect data and just like with criminology, cybersecurity majors must find behavioral patterns, correct problems, and predict future threats. Another major that relates to cybersecurity is business majors. Business is always reactive to demand and supply. The information on these to is what allows businesses to shape their work. This relates to cybersecurity because it is threats to consumers and businesses are the people who steal information on supply and demand for their own benefits. Cybersecurity is one of the methods needed to keep said information safe or protected. Another major in relation to cybersecurity is interdisciplinary studies. Interdisciplinary studies is the study of integrating multiple disciplines. Cybersecurity itself is an interdisciplinary study as it requires the use of different disciplines together. An example of this is what was said earlier with cybercrime as it is a form of cybersecurity bringing in other disciplines. Another relating major would-be sociology. Sociology is the study of human behavior. This relates to cybersecurity as it is important for cybersecurity majors to understand certain patterns in behavior as it will help them to find ways to predict it before it happens.
