Four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information is security, confidentiality, accuracy, and accessibility. Confidentiality becomes an issue when people’s privacy has been taken. The most important thing for a person to want when storing their information electronically is the privacy of said information this way others cannot access it. What comes after that is security whose purpose is to the information and keep confidentiality. Without security bad things can happen like a breach which could lead to systems slowing down or stopping altogether based on what information is given. It is even necessary to have the right type of security that can allow certain people that you may want to give access. Another ethical issue can occur if the information being put in or taken out is not accurate. This leads to misinformation which in turn leads to problems that can occur like false reporting in financial situations, fake news, and many other types of information that could negatively affect a situation. Inaccuracy can go as far as leading to possible death or war as an extreme which is why it is very vital for it to be correct. The fourth ethical issue that could arise is from accessibility. Being able to get into information quickly and efficiently is important. A problem arises when said information is difficult to access as situations can arise that need to be on time. Accessibility problems can also arise with authentication problems like passwords getting stole and passwords being too weak giving access to possible theft decreasing security.
