On the other hand, Rational Choice economic theory suggests that individuals and businesses make choices that they believe are in their best interest. An example of this is the company’s decision to notify customers of the breach only three months after it occurred.

Furthermore, two social science theories are evident in the letter: Ethical Neutrality and Relativism. Relativism refers to the interconnectedness of all things, such as the company’s systems, while Ethical Neutrality indicates that authorities were notified and are currently investigating the breach.
