SPAN 102

Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication

Reflection of Class:

For Spanish 102 I learned to speak to other people from other countries, so I think that was really helpful memorizing and learning actual conversations. I have overcome being nervous about speaking to or in front of others in general. Even in English, I wouldn’t like to speak very often.

Exploring Culture

Doing the discussion boards made me have to do some research on some topics about other countries and what they do differently there than in America. The talk abroad assignment really opens my eyes to how native Spanish speakers speak with beginners. At first, I thought that they would talk very fast, but they were understanding and tried to talk slow to get us to understand what they are saying.

Engaging in Communities

I think it is important for the Spanish culture to expand and spread through other countries because it allows us all to get to know all types of different cultures. I have been to a couple of shows watching Latin Americans and Spaniards dance as they would in their communities, I was very fascinated.

Interpersonal Communication

The discussion board posts were a good way to get me to do research on the topics that we were discussing. I was able to learn what other cultures eat, and what kind of foods were popular in other regions The first talk abroad was nerve-racking because I wasn’t sure how it was going to go. By the time I had done the second talk abroad, I did much better because I was more familiar with it. I had done much better with speaking in Spanish.
