First Semester

  • I honestly grew better from the beginning of the semester to now by managing my time better and putting in focus on what’s more important to me and what needs to be done on time. This really gave me a kick in the butt because I wasn’t expecting things the way it came and now that I got the hang of it I know how to take control and do better or improve it.
  • My expectation for this year was that I would be able to pass all my classes with all A’s and that these classes wouldn’t be as hard as people claim they would be. However it did not meet the expectations. It was actually more challenging than what was stated and what people would say would happen. Honestly i didn’t have any issues with health or sociology it was just chemistry and history. Chemistry did good in the beginning but the deeper we got the more difficult the lectures and assignments started and me not being able to stay ahead was challenging because I needed extra help and studying on a subject before it was time to head to the next one. Lastly was History and that was just challenge because it was a lot of reading about war and i’m not really into that and it was long paragraph and conversation asking people to go into details to explain and go in depth which I didn’t like to do but had to so o can get a good grade on my assignments. Honestly, something I wished 14 weeks ago was to take your time and not try to be everyones savior and to focus on yourself. This takes a lot on the mental and for you to try to get used to it and focus on this, yourself and others it challenging so that’s why i say to take your time and prepare for what you want and need to do. Prioritize what’s important and focus on that.

Studying Habits

  • I didn’t really study in the beginning of the semester but towards the middle I mainly studied chemistry and started doing my reading assignments for history and those were about 2 ½ hours for both depending on the course load and what was planned for the next class. If it was a test or an upcoming exam I might just spend a little more on that subject and then study it a few hours before the day off so that it would be fresh and I would be nervous or think I’m unsure about anything.
  • My study habits have really changed from the I think the most that has changed throughout my studying habits is the location because I have switched from doing it in the Webb to Library to mainly the dorm. In all honesty depending on where I’m at depends on if I’m really studying or not and if i really like the environment so that would affect the constant change on environment. Study groups and asking classmates for help. This has help me because it give me a different view and perspective form someone else and form someone that is also struggle. Plus its more comical aswell. Using more opportunities to meet up with people from class and to start asking teachers for more hands on help aswell. This would be much better and more explainable if someone had told me this in the beginning.
