Exploring Culture
I really did not learn a lot about cultures this year. I learned some small bits about different countries, but not as much as I would have liked. I have no idea what the instructions are talking about with “products and practices.”
Engaging in Communities
Engaging in local communities is very important. If you don’t do it people become isolated. It is also important to engage with the global community. When we do this, we represent our country well. My favorite country I learned about was Costa Rica this year. Each time we were told to research a country, I chose Costa Rica and learned a lot about this country and hope to one day visit.
Interpersonal Communication
The oral/audio activities completed this year have helped me a lot with learning Spanish. The biggest help this provided was with my pronunciation.
Presentational Speaking
The conversations with Professor Vera-Guerrero helped me with my ability to hold conversations under pressure. I think that if I do more of these in the future, it will benefit my Spanish speaking abilities.
The first conversation I completed was several months ago with Professor Vera-Guerrero. It found it challenging to talk under pressure when I knew I was going to get a grade for what I said. I stumbled over a few words but, overall, I did alright. Next time I would focus on relaxing and talking like I am talking during a normal class.
Presentational Writing
Here is one of my writing assignments. This one was “La Persona Que Mas Admiro.” I was writing to my mother talking about my friend Oliver.

Interpretive Listening
The listening activities completed this semester were challenging. The speakers would not talk slowly and sound the words out like we did in class. However, I think this is beneficial to our skills. When you talk to native speakers they do not talk as slow as we do in class.
Interpretive Reading
The interpretive reading section that we did was really hard in my opinion. The different people listed would give information on the people and we would need to answer questions later on what the information said. This section helped me the most with my comprehension on the Spanish language.
