Presentational Writing

In class we needed to write a composition where we described and listed the events held for students at the college, the passage above includes those activities hosted at the university. It describes what it is and where it is happening on campus.

I enjoyed making this composition because I got to research and see what was happening around campus, I was even able to go to some of the events I listed in the composition. It helped me improve my sentences and memorize words in a different way. The hardest part with the composition was trying to figure out the correct way to spell these words and figure out the words in English I wanted to say in Spanish.

Interpretive Listening

In class we had to complete VHL assignments. Some of these were based off your listening skills where you needed to answer the questions correctly based off what was said in the recording.

I thought the VHL assignments were really useful because you got to practice the listening skills outside of the zoom classes. I was able to learned the correct way to say certain words and had to memorize what they sounded like so I can stay caught up on my vocab.

Interpersonal Communication

In Spanish 101, we practiced all skills. We had class on a Zoom call and were able to listen, speak, and see the words we were learning. We learned how to say things like out name, where we are from, information about families, schools actituves and classes. I found this very inforative and helped me to understand Spanish.

In these zoom classes we would communicate with each other. The teacher would call on us randomly so that everyone had a chance to practice on their skills. Sometimes I found class hard however since I knew I might get asked a question it motivated me to learn the information giving for before and during classes.

Engaging Outside of Class

Communicating at home was first a issue since most of my Hispanic family members do not live near me besides my father. All my siblings do not speak the language so me taking this class was a ig step for my family as well. Once I started to engage and ask my father for help, he started to teach us more as a family. He even was refreshing himself with doing this.

Another place I engaged in Spanish was in my work environment because I work with people who speak the language. It was interesting to learn different things about the culture that I was not aware of. I feel like engaging in Spanish outside of class helped me understand in class and helped with assignments.

Presentation Speaking

In this video I had a friend from class react one of the oral quizzes. We had to introduce ourselves and ask how we are doing. There were multiple quizzes like this based on different topics and questions.

I was always nervous before each one but practicing these skills helped me with the next quiz. I was able to understand what I was saying and what was being asked to me. At first I did not know how much practice I needed but once I started practicing more I was more confident.
