Throughout this course, I learned a lot about the evolution of sport communication and how much it has expanded, especially through modern media. Before this class, I mostly saw sports media as just watching games or highlights, but now I understand how many different layers there are, from journalism to social media to branding. One of the biggest things I took away was how important networking and building connections are within the sports world. Relationships can open doors, and communication plays a major role in that. I also learned more about sports journalism and how sports journalists develop their careers. It showed me that there are many different paths you can take in the sports industry, not just playing the sport itself. In addition, learning how to use WordPress was a new experience for me. It was a little confusing at first, but it helped me understand how to create and share content on a platform that can actually be used professionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What stuck with me the most were the assignments, especially the social media persona assignment. I liked that one because I was able to look at my own social media posts and really think about what I was putting out there and how it represents me. It made me realize that social media is more than just posting, it\u2019s part of your personal brand. As an athlete and future professional, how I present myself online can impact opportunities and how people in the sports world view me. This class will definitely help me in my future career. After I finish playing basketball, I still want to be involved in sports, whether that\u2019s through broadcasting, working with an agency, or another role in sports media. The skills I\u2019ve learned in this class, like communication, content creation, and understanding media platforms, will help me transition into those careers. I also feel more confident in my ability to present myself professionally and connect with others in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Overall, this course helped me see sport communication from a completely different perspective. It showed me that I am not just a consumer of sports media, but also a participant in it. Moving forward, I plan to use what I\u2019ve learned to continue building my brand, growing my network, and preparing for a future career in the sports world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
