I interviewed Chelle Payne which has always been a good friend to my parents since I was born. She got her Bachelor of Science degree from East Carolina University. She got her license in nursing and a CPR certification. Now she is a Sr. CEVA specialist in Durham, North Carolina. If you’re like me you’re confused on what that is and what they do. However, she summed it up as they provide support and services for operations like collecting and entering data and processing information. Payne was inspired to go into the Health Profession field because growing up she always wanted to help people when they’re at the lowest to get them back right. “ The feeling of knowing you can make someone day by doing your job is one of the greatest feelings.”
To get in the position she’s in today she had to first go through four years in college which some classes were harder than others but she pushed through. She had to get her clinicals by working and getting experience in a hospital setting and working in a medical call position. Now she is of course a Sr. CEVA specialist. For example, if something causes you to have a heart attack they can run a test to see what caused it like medicine, different trials, or disease. In her job she has to meet with clients and get reports from problems they’re having and send it to a committee that collects source documents to see if it’s caused by drugs or not. The responsibilities she have to document the data they collect from numbers then collect data from others that work around them.
Her favorite thing about her job is that she can work from home covid or no covid because everything is basically computer based. Most of the time they just email each other back and forth. However, they do have meetings in different cities where they meet and talk about the different data and numbers they all collected. She has opportunities to travel but like being with her family as she has two young kids and a husband. The most surprising aspect of a nursing career is there are countless jobs available for that degree which can be research work, insurance company, doctor offices, and etc. The most challenging thing in these times would be not being able to meet face to face because being able to communicate in person is different then over the screen. Payne said that being in the healthcare field is the best decision because it can never run out of business. Health will always be around and people need it to get help at the lowest. Always be prepared to work hard and always rooms to grow with a lot of options in this field.
