End of the Semester Reflection

  1. Study habits
    1. How much time do you spend studying for each class now vs. at the beginning of the semester?

For my chemistry class I kept about the same pace of 1-2 hours for each chapter as I reviewed before taking the homework as at the beginning of the year I never went into detail when I studied. . For my chemistry lab class I can’t really study too much, however I made sure I went through experiment instructions which took me about 30 minutes to an hour to really understand what is happening. Before I would scheme through it and just do the pre lab that was posted. For my Dance and Audience class it is very simple and it takes me no longer than 2 hours to review material before quizzes are posted and I have kept the same thing going since the beginning of the year. Interpreting the American past is almost the same but I take the discussion board readings more seriously which usually take me an hour and a half to complete. Sociology is the same as the beginning as I’m still doing the Connects about each chapter to learn before every class which can take me 1-3hrs to do based on how long the concepts are.

  1. How have your study habits changed?

The way I really study hasn’t changed too much since the beginning of the year started. However, as time progressed I became more serious on what I’m actually learning and why I’m learning these materials. The time I put into studying is a little more as when I don’t get something I go back and read or I look up keywords to help me understand more.

  1. What specific study techniques do you think work best for you?  How do these vary from class to class?

The best study techniques have to do with how I manage my time. I make sure I write down when all my assignments are done in my classes on a planner which really helps me. Keeping a planner and having things spaced out on when I should do those certain things has really helped me. The more I do all my classes like that the less stress I put on myself. Those concepts I do are for every class; I don’t treat any class differently, they are all equally important to help me get into my major.

  1. Transition to college
    1. What did you expect college would be like 14 weeks ago?

I thought that college would be a bit more harder but I never expected it to be easy.I think I was making myself overthink certain situations that weren’t really good for me. In reality everything that the teachers give you is doable. In addition, you just have to relax your mind before getting into any assignment. However, I wish things could’ve been better without covid restricting activities around campus.

  1. What is a resource or activity you have found helpful this semester?

I have been in the student recreation center multiple times this semester. I feel like it just helps me get my mind off of work as I use that distraction to exercise my body. I would go with my friends and they would help it be more fun and motivating as we both are trying to improve our health and keep our bodies looking right. I haven’t really looked out into any resources yet but I feel like it would help make a difference in my college experience.

  1. What is a resource or activity you have found unhelpful this semester?

I haven’t really found a resource or activity that wasn’t helpful as if I feel like covid helped me back from doing certain things I planned to do. Everything is better in person for me and over the computer I feel like I’m less motivated with looking up stuff to join on a zoom call.  Every resource I have used I have no complaints with any of them as all of them did their job well.

  1. What is something you wish you knew 14 weeks ago?

I wish I knew to surround myself with more people who are motivated to get their work completed. Sometimes I wish I could go back and communicate more with people who had the same goals as me. I still get my work done and grades aren’t looking too bad but that push from someone else would’ve made things so much easier.

  1. Name something you have learned this semester that will assist you next semester?

I have learned to stop procrastinating because waiting last minute will have you in stuck situations you can’t do nothing about. Once you look at the assignment too late and realize you have certain questions you need to ask the teacher, it ends up being too late. Sometimes your classmates are not really sure either leading you to get a worse grade that you could’ve avoided if you just started earlier.
