The media’s portrayal of hackers often falls into the trap of romanticization, oversimplifying and glamorizing their activities without understanding the hacking process. Rather than capturing the diverse reality of hackers, the media tends to stereotype and that does not align with the fact that hackers come from all walks of life. This oversimplification can contribute to misconceptions about the motives and methods behind hacking, fostering a narrow view of a complex and varied community. As I explore the realm of cybersecurity in CYSE201S, I am increasingly aware of the importance of debunking these stereotypes and promoting a more accurate understanding of the diverse landscape of hacking.
