It focuses on understanding and predicting cyber-directed changes in humans to manipulate global beliefs. Information warfare is the use of information and communication technologies to achieve strategic objectives in a conflict. It involves the manipulation and control of information to influence the perceptions, beliefs, and behaviors of individuals or groups. Information warfare can take various forms, including propaganda, cyber-attacks, psychological operations, and the spread of disinformation. Social cybersecurity, different from traditional cybersecurity, involves cognitive hacking through targeted psychology, and social sciences. The Department of Defense is working to grasp and address social cybersecurity for national defense. The article concludes by advocating for military leaders’ understanding of social cybersecurity, emphasizing education, policy development, to counter the ongoing information warfare.
