According to the American Composers Alliance, Allan Blank won several awards for his compositions. In 1983, Dr. Blank placed first in the George Eastman Competition for his work “Duo for Bassoon and Piano”. A few years later, in 1988, he won the Eric Satie Mostly Tonal Award. That same year Allan Blank also won the Chautauqua Chamber Singers Annual Choral Competition Contest. One of his last victories was winning the Lind Solo Competition held by Cornell University.

Alongside his awards for his compositions, Allan Blank was presented with many grants and commissions. These include a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1983, commissions from the Virginia Shakespeare Festival and a grant from the Virginia Commission of the Arts. The American Composers Alliance also states that Allan Blank was “One of the most active composers in the ACA sales catalog…”

Looking at Dr. Blank’s impressive body of work, it really is no wonder that he earned so many awards!
