I think music most definitely brings people together. Starting with meeting new people, people get along with others when they share interests and music can be a shared interest that can bring people together and make them closer. Friendships can be built around the idea of music. I have a friend that travels all over with another to see different EDM shows. When it comes to relationships, I think people have a more intimate relationship when they share similar music styles. Music alone can make a space between two more intimate. When my ex-boyfriend and I went to our favorite rapper’s concert we had a wonderful time together. It was a special time. When my friends and I are driving together in a car, similar music tastes make the car ride more fun and enjoyable. We are all smiling and laughing. With that being said, my best friend have a lot of common interests in music and are very much alike with our values and beliefs. Music can show your temperament and emotions which can relay how you feel about certain topics. I feel as if someone is listening to kinder, softer music they may be more likely to stand up against animal abuse and I have seen this example in action.
There are certain songs on my playlist that remind me of people I have or had in my life. For one, “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd reminds me of my uncle and grandfather that gave me so much support and guidance in life that helps remind me to carry on my journey with the most positive regard. It reminds me it’s okay to miss people and the past, but life must carry on and you have to carry yourself along with it. I use the song “We Are Young” by Fun to describe me and my fun nights with friends. I always want to have a young mind when it comes to having fun and letting go here and there. I love adventure, and nothing makes me happier than going out with my friends and having a good time. Another song would be “Paradise” by Coldplay because I want to travel the world and dream of being able to one day. It would truly make me happy. Whenever I hear “Crash into Me” by Dave Matthews Band, I think of my parents and the endless nights of blasting this song along with others by him as they watched me dance along the living room. My best friend Amanda is my rock and for her I associate the song “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King because she knows I’m crazy and sometimes make bad decisions, but she chooses to love me regardless. The last song I have is “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson. This song represents me and what I have gone through. It reminds me that I’m still living and I’m stronger from what I have been through.
