Professional Goals

To make the most of my internship, I have set three goals that will guide my growth in leadership, evaluating health programs, and connecting with healthcare professionals.
Build confidence in leadership and decision-making
One of my main goals during this internship is to improve my leadership skills and become more confident in making professional decisions. Healthcare administrators often guide teams, delegate tasks, and make choices that affect both staff and the community. I plan to do this by observing my preceptor’s leadership style, taking initiative on small projects, and reflecting on the results of my decisions. I also hope to get constructive feedback to help me grow. By the end of my internship, I want to feel more confident in taking on leadership roles and contributing effectively to team efforts.
Learn how to measure program outcomes and effectiveness
Another important goal for me is to gain experience in evaluating whether health programs are meeting their goals. Knowing how to track outcomes is key to improving services and using resources effectively. I plan to do this by helping with data collection, learning about evaluation methods, and understanding the tools the organization uses to measure success. By participating in this process, I will better understand how outcomes guide decisions in healthcare administration. This skill will be useful in any future role where I am responsible for assessing the impact of programs and services.
Expand my professional network in healthcare and community health
Lastly, I want to use this internship to build relationships with professionals who share my interest in healthcare and community wellness. Networking is important for professional growth, and connecting with people in the field can create future opportunities. I plan to do this by engaging with staff, attending meetings, and asking questions about their career paths and experiences. I also want to learn how different roles in the organization work together to achieve their mission. By the end of my internship, I hope to have made meaningful connections that will support my growth and career development.
