In the technological field, women are scarce because the motivation to follow that career path is lacking due to bias and the absence of encouragement. Most women steer away from the technological fields because they aregiven limited choices by their peers. Luckily, my parents encouraged me to chase my dreams and pursue all the options available to me. They knew that I had an interest in science and technology throughout high school, and they introduced me to some programs that were stem related before I transitioned to college. Over the years, I have applied to schools that specifically were known for their stem programs for high schoolers; this included writing several essays and turning in portfolios. My parents encouraged me to keep on going and stated that those schools not accepting me could only lead to something better in the future. Then when I contacted my high school guidance counselor about the cyber program introduced by my parents, my guidance counselor gave me the necessary information to apply to the Chesapeake Career Center. Eventually I got accepted by the Chesapeake Career Center and learned all the skills needed to pursue a career in cyber security. This helped me pursue a major in cyber security once I graduated from high school.
