In July of 2018, I spent 10 days on a medical mission trip to Guatemala. Many people on my trip spoke no Spanish, so I had to translate for the hotel staff and locals we worked with who did not speak English. I am also a pescatarian so I had to talk to the restaurant staff everywhere we went to assure there was no meat in my food as well as reading the menu for others. In addition to this when working with children I talked to them about sports and school. I read children’s books in Spanish to them as well ask held a conversation about what they wanted to be painted on their face.
