Computers have become a large part of modern life with many people relying on them for daily life and there are many ways that they have shaped modern society into a new more optimized world. The first one being that computers have opened up many new jobs for people to have and making old jobs easier. Most importantly computers have also had a large impact on the world’s safety in both positive and negative ways. To begin with, computers have made tasks of life easier. The biggest example in my opinion is the education system, with the advancements in computers it has allowed students to stay connected with their work in places other than the classroom. Also computers have allowed for better data keeping, the best example I can think of is hospitals, hospitals use computers to keep patients data which overall aids in to treating and ensuring the safety of individuals. With all this being said computers function as a double edged sword because with all the great things they can do for us comes many drawbacks that do the opposite. To begin with identity theft is probably the most notable one that comes to mind, in the case of computers this would mean that someone has gained access to a person’s account either through brute force hacking or just picking up on what a person’s password may be. This can cause many bad things to happen to people the biggest one being the loss of money and other assets, this happening to a person can be a very scary and confusing event. Another thing that computers have allowed people with ill-intent to do is gaining access to data they should not have, the biggest example of this would be if someone hacks into business or government documents and once a person has this information they can either hold it for ransom against whoever they stole it from or sell it to someone else. Overall I believe that computers do more good than harm but it is important for people to remain cautious when utilizing this technology.
