Both sides of my family struggled with English and so teaching my siblings and I was never a priority because they wanted to make sure we didn&#8217;t struggle like they did. As I&#8217;ve gotten older it&#8217;s persuaded me to fully understand the language and become fluent. It&#8217;s important not only for me to understand my own culture but important overall for those to understand others backgrounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My experience with Spanish has been a rollercoaster throughout my life. Growing up I heard it all the time between family members but never fully became fluent. I understand a majority of the language and when people speak me however, I struggle with being able to speak it myself. After this course I&#8217;ve been able to speak Spanish more comfortably and hold conversations longer. In my future I hope to become fluent and be able to have full conversations with family and friends. Eventually, I would like to travel to Mexico to visit my family&#8217;s old town and be able to use my Spanish there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I chose to take Spanish because I come already from a hispanic background being Mexican and Cuban.
