Throughout my career and being a MPH student, I have taken on various leadership roles both on and off campus. These experiences have helped me develop my leadership skills, and have shaped me into the confident and effective leader that I am today.
1-Program Coordinator: I was serving as a funding program coordinator for a non-governmental organization (NGO) with Syrian refugees in Turkey.This experience was incredibly valuable to my learning as I was able to gain firsthand experience in volunteer projects . I was able to utilize my organizational and communication skills as I worked to implement and oversee funding programs for the refugees. This experience allowed me to understand the importance of collaboration, especially when working with a variety of stakeholders and partners. Additionally, I improved my problem solving and critical thinking skills as I had to make decisions and devise solutions to challenging issues. These skills have helped me develop a more nuanced understanding of cultural diversity and have made me a more effective advocate for marginalized communities.
2-Teaching Assistant for an Introductory Course in Histology: As a teaching assistant for an introductory course in histology at Tripoli University in Libya, I learned important leadership skills such as communication, mentorship, and collaboration. I had to communicate complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner to students, and provide feedback and support to help them improve their understanding. Additionally, I had to collaborate with the course instructor and other teaching assistants to ensure that the course was delivered effectively and that students received the necessary support. These skills have helped me develop my communication and teaching abilities, as well as my ability to work effectively as part of a team.
3-Participating in Teaching & Assessing Leadership & Management Skills for Public Health Students: This experience was incredibly beneficial to my learning as I was able to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of leadership and management in the public health field. I was able to develop my skills in leadership, communication, and problem-solving. Additionally, I was able to learn from experienced professionals in the public health field and was able to gain an understanding of the importance of leadership in the public health field.
