Hello, I’m Amari Fisher, a current student studying cybersecurity at Old Dominion University. I am currently interested in cloud security and cross domain solutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I chose to major in cybersecurity because I have always been interested in technology, especially the modification of technology to see the limits of what technology could be made to accomplish. As a kid, I would always play around with games, until I got my first computer, then I fell in love with the capabilities of the device and the information contained within.

My true interest in cybersecurity didn’t start until high school, where I had the opportunity to experience some practice challenges and the basic essence of cybersecurity through the course provided by my professors. This began my journey in cybersecurity, as I chose to participate in more computer-related STEM courses such as programming to gain more experience in the computer science world. The early teaching was mostly foundational about ones and zeroes, but I enjoyed every second of learning the inner workings of a computer, and utilizing that knowledge to attempt to create my own programs.

Entering college, I was stuck between computer science and cybersecurity. However, I eventually chose to major in cybersecurity because it establishes a unique blend between the core principles of computer science and human values. I am extremely interested in the human aspect of cybersecurity because it involves studying people more than directly countering them through technical means. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
