How should we approach the development of cyber-policy and -infrastructure given the “short arm” of predictive knowledge?
Obviously we can’t predict the future of exact events that will take place, something new happens and develops everyday, regardless of time. With that said, we can always take several precautions and information from past history. Although society can’t know what will happen in the future, it’s best to use and understand past mistakes, successes, examples, and beliefs to allow us to create a better future. By doing so, it can allow us to be stronger and create predictive knowledge that will assist in future developments. Regarding technology and developing cyber policies, the past and the present will allow us to better equip ourselves from future disasters or successes. We can take hacking as an example, although we might never know when or how a hacker might attack an individual, users can take various preventive measures to avoid such disasters.
Approaching the development of cyber-policy, it is best to adapt various cybersecurity frameworks and practices to ensure safety. Implementing Risk management to users and employees in practicing technology uses. Installing malware prevention softwares helps keep computers and other technical gadgets safe and clean from any malwares or viruses that might occur. Connections from different networks when accessing the internet can be a potential risk, it’s best to execute proper network security assessments. In a company or business sense managing or limiting user privileges, can assist in maintaining and monitoring data access. Depending on their role, different employees can have access to certain things, thus limiting any breaches that might happen.
But overall, investing in cyber-security is key when wanting to develop any cyber policies and infrastructures. Specifically, investing in research and development will allow society to be at ease when accessing technology. By gathering several resources, advancements, and current trends investing in cybersecurity can create a safe space in our current society.
