Artifact 5 – Module 10
Module 10’s archive was my 5th favorite this semester. The activity’s instructions were to state how many minutes would I wait on each of these people if they were late to an appointment with me. It was actually very hard for me to pinpoint an exact time. I am not a very patient person when it comes to waiting on people, however, there are times I am forced to. I would wait the least amount of time for my best friend- only 10 minutes. This is because my best friend is someone who I communicate with the most- she would let me know way ahead of time if she were to be late. In addition to this, I have the least amount of patience with her. I also would not wait that long for a colleague or client unless it was extremely important. I would wait the most (30 minutes) if it was someone with superiority over me such as my parents, older siblings, and my boss. I would also wait longer if it was my boyfriend just because we would also have communication about the meeting. My representative image is a screenshot of my archive that shows my wait-time in an organized chart.

Artifact 4 – Module 11
Module 11’s archive revolved around exploring color psychology. From background knowledge, I knew color had an effect on mood. I’ve watched a lot of home renovating shows to know certain room colors are preferred as they create a certain mood for the person. For example, green is a very popular wall color as it exudes calmness. I have always been so amazed at how even color can impact human behavior. The first part of this activity required me to categorize colors with my own rationale. Immediately I grouped black, white, brown, and gray- all neutral colors. I then broke up the remaining shades into cool and warm tones. The 2nd part of the activity required me to connect the color to an emotion. Certain colors like yellow and red were easy to pick an emotion. Other colors like violet and brown caused me to contemplate more on the emotion I felt when thinking about this color. Overall, I found I associated the warm tones with more powerful, energetic emotions while the cool and neutral tones were with calmer emotions. My representative image is a screenshot of my answers to the archive activity.

Artifact 3 – Module 9
Module 9 discussed culture and gender. I found the archive for this module very interesting and eye-opening. We were asked to associate an occupation with a gender, then to interview someone outside of our culture to do the same. I am of Middle Eastern heritage and I chose to interview my best friend who is of Ethiopian heritage. Overall, we seemed to have the same idea of which gender we typically in-vision for each career. One fact we do know is that a lot of other cultures outside our own stereotypically see doctors as male. However, both our cultures tend to see women as doctors much more often. This goes to show there is no “man’s job” or “woman’s job.” It is just what we were raised and shaped to believe. My representative image is both my best friend’s and I’s answers to the questions.

Artifact 2 – Module 13
Module 13’s archive was a very insightful and reflective assignment. We were asked what makes us happy and its correlation to physical health. What I really enjoyed about this artifact was the ability for me to consider all the things that bring me happiness. We are always so caught up in stress, life, and the negatives that we forget to focus on the positives. It was nice remembering all the enjoyable and bright moments life has to offer. A few of the things that make me happy are: shopping, money, spending time with loved ones, iced coffee, pasta, rainy days, and feeling accomplished. Experiencing success and seeing those closest to be being successful is definitely number one on my list. I genuinely do believe, personally, happiness greatly affects my physical health. When I am down and going through rough times- I feel nauseous, anxiety, and overall sick. Being very sad creates a toxic effect to my body. However when I am happy, I feel great. I feel strong and healthy. Mental health greatly influences physical health and it is something we do not take as seriously. As my representative image, I chose something that makes me happy: shopping and malls. It is a very good stress reliever and coping mechanism for me when I feel overwhelmed or sad.

Artifact 1 – Module 3
The first ever artifact that was assigned in module 3 is my all time favorite. Not only was it an amazing way to introduce the course, but I loved reflecting on my heritage and what represents it the best. A Persian rug, I decided, best represented my culture as they hold so much history and symbolism. I grew up seeing these rugs everywhere in my house and not thinking twice about them. This assignment, however, allowed me to reflect and connect how this rug embodies my heritage and how I grew up. The representative image selected was straight from my archive- it is a picture of the Persian rug in my bedroom. It goes to show that this household item is not out the ordinary for me, yet it is extraordinary in representing me as a person.
