We are all creatures of habit, so we may notice the signs that our computers are not safe and infected with a virus, worms, Trojans, or spyware. Simple signs that you should be able to notice are your computer slowing down, pop up ads / messages, and your computer crashes often. There are easy ways to fix these by simply checking your settings, updating your browser plug-ins and settings, verify your and test your firewalls often, delete old files, and programs, and don’t click or open spam emails and make sure you download and keep your antivirus software current and up to date. You should also not use the same passwords for all your accounts, change them every 60 days or so. When it comes to using WIFI in your home make sure you do not give guest your WIFI password, instead you can create a guest network like they do in restaurants, malls, and other public places. Make sure your network is not vulnerable by avoid having any open networks that your neighbors or others can use to piggyback off you. When you have a device make sure you encrypt it, doing this makes it harder for people to steal your data. Always be sure to create a strong password that is between eight to twenty characters. When you do this, you want to make sure it includes capital and lowercase letters, along with numbers, and special characters. This will prevent various types of dictionary attacks. You can also tell that your computer is safe by ensuring that no users have allowed the computer to be remotely accessed. The computer is safe if it is not running slow. What I mean by running slow is when you open a new tab. This is an indication that there is something wrong with the computer.
