ePortfolio 4: Compare cybersecurity risks in the U.S. and another country.

The first comparison I read form the Kigerl article is that all countries experience spam emails.  This is good information that helps the reader to think about how since the internet can take you all over the world the virtual vulnerabilities are everywhere on the globe.  Spam or what is called botnets causes depletion of human resources, this depletion is expensive, 22 billion dollars in 2004 according to Lachwani & Ghose.  The next comparison is that the United States and other countries have in common is Phishing.   Phishing is used to mimic a original email from a source that you use that has your financial information. The United States is heavily affected by this.  The United States is not the only country that feels the damage caused by phishing China, Russia, Ukraine, and Brazil are heavily targeted as well.  I can see why these countries: China, Russia, and Brazil are disrupted by the inconvenience of phishing.  These countries manufacture goods and send them all over the world.  For example, most products say made in China, Russia, Brazil, and the United States.  Imagine if a phishing attempt is successful, the attacker could get a lot of money if they sold all the information that they occurred.  A phishing attack can terminate a major company.  The same way it closes many small businesses.  After a phishing attack on a company or business the consumers will lose trust crimpling the regrowth of the company or business.  The second comparison is identity fraud.  Majority of identity fraud relates to social engineering.  Identity fraud occurs via dating websites, Facebook, and Instagram.  The identity fraud is done for individual financial gain under fraudulent means.  The US and Nigeria both face this in the some of the same ways such as kidnapping, ransom, and dating scams.  The last comparison of the US and other countries is ransom ware this occurs when an attacker corrupts your system and charges you a fee to fix the system.
