For my Professional Growth Assignment, I wrote a letter to the editor of our local newspaper. In this letter, I advocated for school libraries and public libraries with community stakeholders. I specifically chose to bring attention to “Drop Everything and Read,” which is a phrase that became popular in a well-known children’s book written by Beverly Cleary. Each year on her birthday, the country is encouraged to grab a book and read. My letter was to encourage people in our community to participate in this day by finding a great book and reading.
