Learning Style

  1. For my classes I study by looking over my notes or my professor’s notes/lectures. I do this until I know it. For my statistics class I do problems of the same concept over and over until I know I can do it. For my chem lecture class I watch the lecture videos and take notes as she’s speaking. For my history class I look over the discussion questions and answers or look over the documents that she posts. For sociology I retake the practices quizzes over and over.
  1. Techniques that I use in class would be to create a to-do list of what assignments I need to get done and how long they might take.
  2. Techniques that I use outside of class would be to not stress myself out about one assignment or overthink about all the assignments I need to get done. I definitely take breaks in between assignments I’m working on.
  1. One class in which I’m doing well in is probably sociology. This class and professor are very chill to me and it just seems easier in my opinion. A study method that I do for this class is retake the practice quizzes and look over my notes.
  2. My statistic class is a difficult class for me at the moment
  1. Strategies that I will use to help my study are going to attend my professors office hours or challenge myself to take practice quizzes or tests. I would study for 45 minutes and take a 15 minute break and continue that cycle once a day.
  2.  I spend more time studying concepts that I don’t understand or don’t get the right answers on. I would spend less time studying the material/concepts I’m strong at. This would include, mean, median, mode as well as finding standard deviation. I am struggling with probability and how to calculate them especially when it comes to the word problems.
  3. I’m not being as systematic as I want to be just because I procrastinate and I definitely need to fix that before the semester ends. I also don’t ask questions when I am confused with a problem. I also would like to work on that as well.
  4. I’m not taking any advantages as I would like to. I should take more advantage especially during office hours.
  5. I am struggling with motivation to study because being in the house all day and doing work is stressful and tiring to me. I know I need this class in order to get my degree/get into the program. I’ve also never taken a statistics class so it is a bit difficult for me.
  6. Confusions that I have clarified are with standard deviation and probabilities. To clarify these confusions I rewatched my professor’s lectures that she has posted as well as watched Youtube videos on those topics.
  7. Probabilities are still a confusion just because we’re still on this topic. I will get this clarified by asking my professor questions and taking practice tests/quizzes.
  8. Next time for my exam that worked well was doing the study guide the professor provided for the class and I will most definitely be doing that again.
  9. I will try not to stay onto one topic for very long because it doesn’t help me at all being frustrated on one question.
  10. A question that I got wrong on was a standard deviation question. I used the wrong formula because I think there’s two formulas for standard deviation. I did get half credit back for showing my work and my professor gave me feedback on what I did wrong.
  1. One new technique that I can use in class is probably seeing a tutor or forming study groups. Since I don’t ask questions or I rather work by myself I feel like it would help me get out of my comfort zone and help me with my studying skills.
  2. One new technique that I can use outside of class would be knowing myself. I should find ways that would help me study in an effective way as well as find the motivation to do so.
