Experience

My past experiences related to cybersecurity was going to camps and joining a cybersecurity club. One of the camps that I went to was called “From One Hand to Another”. It was a STEM based program that helped teach children and teens, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math skills. It also was hands-on and taught us a bit about coding. Another camp I went to was called “Girls Geek Out” and this camp focused more on technology and cybersecurity based skills. We learned how to build and take apart a computer and more about coding. We went on a trip on the last day to meet with people in the technology and cybersecurity field. Overall, the program provided an insight into what to expect in the cyber field.

The cybersecurity club was a national competition that was hosted every year for students in cybersecurity. My 12th grade cyber teacher suggested that I joined the club because I was good at the work that we did in class. We didn’t get to do much in the club, since the school blocked certain things from being accessed on the school network. But, it was nice to at least participate in something that I was interested in pursuing in the future.
